| About |
Ember Soberman has spent the last 14 years in pursuit of her two life long passions of traveling and painting. Born in Umpqua, Oregon, Ember grew up in a number of small towns across the state. She left Eugene, Oregon for New York City at the age of 18. After spending time all over the U.S., including Hawaii; she settled in New Orleans. Throughout her travels in South East Asia, Latin America, Canada, Europe and the U.S. Ember's paints have remained her constant. At home and in changing terrain, her art continues to serve as her voice, record, and reaction. She has developed a unique multi-media technique, based primarily in watercolor, that richly portrays her surroundings. In 2006 Ms. Soberman was the recipient of a grant for the arts from the Joan Mitchell Foundation. Her art has been shown in Cebu City, Philippines, Merida, Mexico, New Orleans, Louisiana, Brooklyn and Manhattan. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. |
