About
Ember Soberman

Rather than tiring of the entrapments of the modern world and escaping to join a backwoods commune, Ember was born to one. So it would seem perfectly natural to expect that when she came of age, she should leave immediately for the most concrete laden place on earth. This cross-continental back flip landed her onto the dense streets of N.Y.C. From there she traveled extensively throughout the contiguous U.S. as well as the Hawaiian Islands and into Latin America, Europe, Canada, and Southeast Asia.

Ember has imbued her multi-media driven canvases with a varicolored narrative that renders her nomadic bent of character. They traverse the recesses of human consciousness and seduce by a slow and subtle appreciation. As a professional freelance artist, she continues to increase her skill set as well as widen her base of knowledge.

In 2006, Ember was the recipient of a grant in the arts from the Joan Mitchell Foundation. Her work has shown in Cebu City of the Philippines; Merida, Mexico; New Orleans; Brooklyn; and Manhattan. She calls New Orleans home when she is not out venturing down roads, for her, not yet taken.
